Case Goods
by: Angela Oliver
Case goods are essential for a bedroom or living room setting. Not only do they add elegance to the room, but they are also functional and keep the room from looking cluttered. Different types of case goods that are available include bookcases, chest of drawers, cupboards and wardrobes.
Book cases are a great design element to add to any room. If there are lots of books to store or put on display, they can be showcased on the bookcases. Bookcases can also be decorated with other home furnishing accessories. By adding a picture frame, some flowers, candles, decorative book ends, and bookcase can really enhance the look of the room. Also use fabrics to drape over or around the book shelf to create soft edges and give the room a cozy feeling.
A chest of drawers is an essential element for any bedroom. They are very important for storing goods and other fine goods. A chest also serves as a vanity which can be doubled with a large mirror as well as baskets on the counter space for storing items. A chest of drawers can also serve as a TV stand. Why add another piece of furniture to a room when the television can simply be mounted on top a chest of drawers? Using furniture for multiple purposes makes room for other things.
Cupboards and wardrobes are always useful in any living area. In the kitchen area, cupboards are needed for storing dishes, pots and pans, and food. They can be finished and painted to match any color scheme. Cupboards are also very useful in utility rooms where there is a great need for storage. Commercial grade cupboards are sure to hold all types of tools and supplies and hold up to the weight. Cupboards are also a necessity in the bathroom. Cupboards hide plumbing hardware and add space for storing toiletries and other bathroom necessities. A large cupboard also serves as a linen closet so towels and wash cloths can be conveniently stored within reach.
Case goods should always be at the top of the list when furnishing a room or home. There are always a variety of styles and colors to choose from, so no matter what, there will always be a style to compliment the homes decor.

Buying Furniture Online Can Be Safer Than Offline
Buying Furniture Online Can Be Safer Than Offline
by: Joel Walsh
Furniture sales have historically been a major area of consumer complaints. Luckily, there are a number of reasons why buying furniture online may be safer than offline.
No Fast-Talking Salesmen
Many complaints say the furniture salesperson made promises that were not kept. In reality, furniture salespeople don't always know what they're talking about. The actual fulfillment of furniture orders is often handled by a different department, or even a different company.
Not having salespeople hanging around makes online furniture shopping lower-pressure.
It's All in Writing
By their very nature, online furniture stores have to put a lot of information in writing. The written policies regarding shipping, warranties (if any), and customer service will almost always be easy to access. (Hint: look for links to written policies at the bottom of each web page.) The...

Buying Furniture at Yard Sales
Buying Furniture at Yard Sales
by: Bob Benson
Buying furniture pieces at yard sales offers many options, but you must look closely to know what you?re getting.
Are you interested in trying your hand at some creative furniture painting? If you don?t already have an old piece of furniture to practice on, shopping yard sales is the best way to come up with a piece.
If you are buying the yard sale furniture for the sake of practicing your creative idea, buy away! If you are looking for a particular piece to use, take time to look the furniture over to make sure you are getting a solid piece at a good deal.
For instance, if you want to buy a small dresser for a guest room and want to give it a country look, your first concern should be the stability of the furniture. You can give almost any style the look you want, as long as the furniture is sturdy and in good condition. Look to see if any of the wood is buckling or if the piece has...
